Meetings
We hold meetings at quarterly, at the homes of various members. A great place to meet good folks and learn about the issues. Non-members are always welcome!
Backcountry Rides and Campouts
All BCHC members are invited to participate in our group rides into the local mountains and desert, and horse camping at several local equestrian campgrounds. We also enjoy participating in other units' rides and campouts.
Tenderfoot Rides
Members who may not be ready for the longer, more challenging rides, or whose mounts need an easier trail, will enjoy our monthly Tenderfoot Rides.
Fairs and Demonstrations
Look for our booth at local equestrian events. Our members often participate in demonstrations of packing, gentle use camping, and various styles of riding.
Work Parties
We organize work parties, and participate in those of other organizations. If your group is planning work on a trail, campsite, or trailhead, invite us to help!
Backcountry 101
About once a year we hold a day-long public workshop for backcountry users. Classes include vet care on the trail, emergency farriery, camp cooking, and gentle use on the trail. Great food and great fun.
Officers' Training, Southern Units
In 2003 our unit hosted the BCHC Officers' Training. All members with experience as a unit officer were invited to attend and share their knowlege and ideas with the incoming officers. The theme for this year was public speaking and presentation.
Note: We regret that BCHC insurance prohibits non-members from participating in events where animals are present. BCHC members must present their membership cards to participate in unit rides and to handle stock at clinics. If you are not yet a member, you are welcome to join BCHC right there at any BCHC event.
