County of San Diego, Trails and Pathways

On September 13, 2000 the County Board of Supervisors declared that "...recreational trails are a form of public recreation the County should provide". Trails are to be planned based on community input. Over the past few months Community Planning and Sponsor Groups across the County have been gathering to map out proposals.

Several communities have already designed and adopted trails and pathways plans. If you don't know about your own area, get in touch with your County Community Planning Group or Sponsor Group to see how you can help.

Please attend the Board of Supervisors Meeting about Trails

When? - September 13th, 2000, 9:00 am (be there at 8:30)
Where? - Room 310, County Admin Building, across from Star of India.

The Board of Supervisors is scheduled to consider a plan to address riding and hiking trail issues. The meeting will be working toward "...development and implementation of a long-range Trails Strategic Plan for County trails that satisfies community expectations."

The county is looking for public input from citizens and communities - "...staff is recommending a change in the overall approach to trails, from a regional "top down" process to a community-based, "bottom up" process."
