Trail Advocacy and Riding Organizations San Diego County Trails Council - A pillar of the trail community! SDCTC is an all volunteer trails advocacy organization. Members include equestrians, mountain bikers, hikers, and other individuals and clubs concerned about environmental issues, resource protection, and outdoor recreational opportunities. Ramona Trails Association - Their mission is to retain access to and maintain existing non-motorized, multi-use trails in their rural area as well as actively encouraging new trail development on both public and private lands. Be sure to visit their Calendar page. San Diego Mountain Biking Association - This organizations goals are very much in line with our own. They are a strong positive force in the community. Their commitments include: Pine Valley Mountain Riders (no web site) - A very active group with a long history. Activities include trail advocacy, rides, and campouts. Call or e-mail Steve & Mary Randall for information: 619 561-6764 Blossom Valley Riders (no web site) - Over 80 families, mostly in the Blossom Valley area, but others are welcome. Monthly rides (one in neighborhood, one away), annual mixer. Very active in keeping local trails open. Meetings 2nd Thursday of each month. Call Jack Williams for information: 619 390-1996 Lakeside Saddle and Driving Club - An equestian center on Willow Road, across from Pillsbury Ranch. $100/year membership includes use of their arenas and other facilities. Call Michelle at 619 443-2503 for information. Galloping Gossips - Mounted Square Dance and Drill Team. Established in 1957. Based in Imperial Valley. The Galloping Gossips also manage and assist in other equestrian events including trail trials and team pennings. Sweetwater Trails - Includes information on Hwy 125 mitigation. Los Vallecitos Riders - The club is based in San Marcos, CA., with the objective to promote better horsemanship. They sponsor horse shows, playdays, clinics, trail rides, campouts and improve Walnut Grove equine park facilities. Encinitas Trails Coalition - The Encinitas Trails Coalition is a grass roots organization founded by horseback riders, trail hikers, and mountain bicyclists in 1995 at Olivenhain, CA. Their membership is dedicated to the establishment of an interconnecting network of multi-use recreational trails within Encinitas, CA., and their link-up with existing trails and proposed future trails in adjacent communities within San Diego county, the state of California, the U.S.A., and neighboring countries. American Trails - American Trails is working to create and protect America's network of interconnected trails. They support local, regional, and long-distance trails and greenways, whether they be in backcountry, rural, or urban areas. Their goal is to support America's trails by finding common ground and promoting cooperation among all trail interests. Heritage Trails Fund - OUR MISSION - To preserve and advance trails and open space as a living resource for present and future generations. To work with community, state and government agencies to preserve historic and scenic trails; to practice good land management and improve access to public lands for all types of non-motorized trail users.
