| Tenderfoot Rides
2nd Saturday of every month
Meet at 10, ride at 11, brown bag lunch at noon.
Various nearby trailheads.
Call Linda Eskin, 619 441-7675 for details.
These easy, supportive rides are perfect for folks who are new to trail riding, or who have young or green mounts. Also for those who just aren't up for the longer, more challenging rides. Tenderfoot rides are one hour long, at a walk, and are held at easy-to-reach local trails with plenty of parking away from busy roads.
Each ride includes a brief talk on some aspect of backcountry horsemanship - safety on the trail, backcountry manners, camping with horses, trailering tips, etc. After the ride we will enjoy our brown-bag lunches and share stories and helpful information. Anyone who wants to ride again after lunch is free to do so. These are a great way to get involved and have fun.
We also need experienced people on steady mounts to be a "good influence" on the greenies, so all of you old-timers are welcome too!
If there is enough interest, future "Tenderfoot" events might include packing or camping trips.

Note: We regret that BCHC insurance prohibits non-members from participating in events where animals are present. If you want to go on a Tenderfoot Ride, and are not yet a member (or are not current with your dues!) all you have to do is bring your completed membership form and a check to the ride, and you're in! |
