Lakeside Saddle & Driving ClubLakeside Saddle & Driving Club

This is a tremendous local resource, worthy of its own page. This is an "unofficial" page I've put up (they don't have an "official" one) because every rider in our area should know about this place.

The Lakeside Saddle and Driving Club is an equestrian facility at the southwest corner of Willow Road and Ashwood Street, across from the Pillsbury Ranch a few blocks east of 67. If you're looking for a safe place to exercise and work with your horse, with easy access and parking, this is it.

From their membership information:

"The Lakeside Saddle & Driving Club was established in 1983 by Duane and Joan Embery Pillsbury because of the need for a community equine facility in the Lakeside area. The facility was planned and developed to accommodate all types of equine activities including roping, jumping, dressage, cutting, driving, eventing and reining."

Facilities include round pens, several arenas (including a driving arena!), wash racks, a picnic area, an outhouse, ample trailer parking, and best of all, a nice sand track around the perimeter.

The special arena for driving horses.

The Lakeside Saddle & Driving Club facilities are availble for use by members year round during daytime hours. Sometimes shows and other events are held here, too.

Picnic area, with porta-potty, tie rails, and wash racks.

Membership is $100/year for individuals, $150/year for families.

Single day guest use is $5/day.

Members and guests are required to sign a release form before using the facility.

Contact the Club at 619 443-2503, or Michelle (Club manager) at 444-7654 for complete information.

Some cross-country jumps. (Watch out for gopher holes!)
